LINDSAY KOLK
Lindsay Kolk is a visual artist concerned with natural phenomena: primarily those of flora and light. Overgrown hedges and weedy edges, gardens that spill over human-made barriers, long shadows and amber hues of day’s end, rippling meadows past peak bloom and going to seed. Unlike many botanically inspired artworks, these works are not exacting in their representations of the natural world but instead reach for the feeling or impression of the subject.
Nature is like parting a curtain, you go into it. I want to draw a certain response like this ... not a specific response but that quality of response from people when they leave themselves behind, often experienced in nature, an experience of simple joy.
